Dismal /ˈdɪzm(ə)l/ causing a mood of gloom or depression. (of a person or their mood) gloomy. the seaside town, Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England. The art exhibition was housed in a Dystopian theme park that is a scruffy, dingy and ran down version of Disneyland. This art exhibition contrasted the reality vs fairytales and using disney characters to comments on the irony of the world we live in today. For example the image below, a distorted version of Ariel from Little Mermaid in a green poisoned pond may be hinting on environmental issues such as industrial pollutions/ chemical waste. I myself living in London took around 3 hours of commute by car to get to Dismaland. Despite the long travel journey, it was worth the time. The entrance fees were 5 pounds per person and it was worth every penny of it. There were lots of artwork/ installations/ films etc. to look at. One can spend around 2-3 hours looking at everything. Overall, it was a trip worth the visit, and has made me reflect more critically on the world we live in and how we can make a change. 'Art is not about reaching for fame or money but souls.' Here are some more photographs. Happy Scrolling! This is the fairytale castle in reality. Cinderella's pumpkin carriage crashed and paparazzi taking pictures of her instead of calling the ambulance. Doesn't that remind you of something that happened perhaps 18 years ago? For more information, please check out Dismaland Bemusement Park website:
